LET THE PEOPLE OF YOUR AREA HAVE THEIR SAY WITH COMMUNITY LED PLANNING

Calling all Prebendal Farm residents – don’t miss your chance to have your say about how your community can improve, with the organisations that can help you do it: Monday, 21st March at 7pm at Prebendal Farm Community Centre.

In a collaborative effort Aylesbury Town Council and Community Impact Bucks are launching an initiative to improve certain areas – led by the communities living in them.

The initiative, entitled ‘Community Led Planning’, comes following calls from the Government for local communities to have more control of their own lives, to have their say on what they want doing in their own community or parish and to work with other organisations to get it done.

Community Led Plans give an opportunity for everyone in a community to make themselves heard. They provide a way for community members to say if they want more open spaces, more effective public transport, affordable housing, better access to health care, a chance to buy local produce at local shops, or develop ways to allow the community to make the most of their social and leisure time. More importantly, it allows the people of a community to speak face to face with the organizations who can make these plans happen.

The Community Development Team, which will attend the Community Led Planning groups, aims to help local residents to realise their ideas and plans for the community they live in, ensuring any plan put in place is robust and inclusive and therefore effective. The Community Led Development Team will also act on the community’s behalf as an influence on the strategic policies within the Local Authority and their partners to make things happen.

Paul O’Hare of Community Impact Bucks is excited about the prospect of collaborative working for the good of the community. “Within the Aylesbury Town area, we have already had very good discussions with Aylesbury Town Council, and are looking forward to working together to achieve results for the communities.

“Community Impact Bucks will be working on Community Led Planning meetings in the Prebendal Farm community and in two other community groups.”

The first public meeting of the Community Led Planning Group will focus on Prebendal Farm. Residents are encouraged to come along to have their say. The meeting has been arranged for the 21st March between 7-9 p.m. at Prebendal Farm Community Centre - Please visit: http://www.aylesburytowncouncil.gov.uk for a poster
