AYLESBURY CELEBRATES THE MAGIC OF A VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS!
On Sunday, 12th December 2010 from 10am-4pm in the Market Square, Aylesbury, a FREE Christmas Fair will take place – with a Victorian twist!
Organised by Aylesbury Town Council, The Victorian Christmas Fair will include a huge variety of Victorian festive fun, activities and entertainment, as well as a selection of stalls for those last minute shopping ideas.
Entertainment will include the return of the fabulous Mr. Alexander’s travelling show, a traditional variety show of magic, juggling, unicycling, balancing and illusion which proved incredibly popular during Aylesbury Town Council organised event ‘Aylesbury-on-Sea’ in the summer. Visitors can also enjoy Victorian ‘Freak-show’ the Gaiety Engine, the Gentleman Juggler Nathaniel Howell and Fanny-by-Gaslight, the stilt walking flower seller! There’ll also be traditional Victorian music performed by Aylesbury-based period music group Lumina as well as traditional Victorian ghost stories told throughout the day.
There’ll be plenty of activities for children to get stuck into too – Christmas cracker making, lavender bag making, beeswax candle making, pine cone decorating and reindeer mask making will all be on offer, with a take-home result – perfect for homemade Christmas decorations. Also visitors can be amazed and interested by some of the great demonstrations on offer such as liquorice making, optical illusions and traditional board games.
There'll be games of a more modern type on offer for sale too from Aylesbury games company Jask Games, which will be just one of the great selection of stalls on offer selling goods such as jewellery, Christmas cards and even free roasted chestnuts! The Farmer's Bar from Aylesbury's historic King's Head Pub will be selling Mulled Wine and mince pies to warm visitors up and there'll also be plenty of patio heaters to keep the chill away.
The Victorian Christmas Fair is FREE for all to attend and runs from 10am – 4pm on Sunday, 12th December in the Market Square, Aylesbury.
